Yashwant Shikshan Sanstha’s Miraj Mahavidyalaya, Miraj, affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, has a very long glorious tradition. Late R.P. [Anna] Patil, a veteran Freedom Fighter, took initiative to establish a college at Miraj in 1993 in order to impart quality education to the students residing in the remote corners of Miraj tehsil such as Aarag, Bedag, Soni, Bhose, Khanderajuri, Malagaon, Belanki, Khatav, Salagare.

During the last 29 years, the Management has taken steps to introduce courses such as, B.A., B.Sc., B. Com. and B.C.A. for U.G. While Microbiology, Physics, Geography and English for P.G. and Facilities like playground, Parking, Canteen, Women’s Hostel, etc. The Management has shown a great sense of social commitment by starting this college for the poor, needy students from eastern part of draught prone rural areas of Miraj tehsil with different social and economic background. College has constructed Late. Prof. V. B. Paraddi Library, a rich knowledge resource centre.

Currently, the college provides, along with conventional graduate and post graduate education, Short Term courses, C.O.C. to improve skills in students. National Service Scheme, Yashwant Magazine, Cultural Department, Students Council, Scholarships, Free ships and Students Aid, Shivaji University Students Welfare Fund, Alumni Association work for overall development of pupil. It has also made available training and facilities for playing Cricket, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Handball, Kho-Kho, and Kabaddi.

In addition to Miraj Mahavidyalaya, the Sanstha runs different High Schools & Junior colleges at Kupwad, Takali, Bhose, Aarag, Tanang and Hingangaon. Let the students make maximum use of different courses and facilities provided to them in high schools and the college and attain the all-round development so as to succeed in careers they choose in life.

Members of trustee, management and well-wishers of Sanstha have contributed financially in the building of this educational institute. Sanstha’s aim is to create and maintain student centric healthy educational environment in future also.
